Cowboys Shock Manning, Unbeaten Colts In Tony Romo’s First Home Start
Tony Romo made his first start at Texas Stadium a special one, defeating Peyton Manning and the unbeaten Indianapolis Colts 21-14. In a game pitting two high-profile quarterbacks, it was the younger Romo who showed the poise of a veteran, leading the Cowboys on three long drives in the final period to seal the victory. Along the way, Romo became the first quarterback in history to defeat a team with a record of 7-0 or better with three, or fewer, starts in the NFL.
Manning, on the other side, suffered mightily at the hands of a ferocious Dallas defense which forced four turnovers on the afternoon, the most in a game by the Colts in five seasons. Dallas linebacker Kevin Burnett took the second of Manning’s two interceptions back for a touchdown in the early stages of the third quarter, knotting the score at 7-7.
