Genius Behind Dallas’ Dynasty Of The 1990’s, Former Cowboys Head Coach Jimmy Johnson Turns 72
Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson turns 72 years old today. In five years in Dallas (1989-1993), Johnson transformed the team from the league’s absolute worst to the unquestioned best, leading Dallas to back-to-back Super Bowl titles.
Odd fact: While Johnson and predecessor Tom Landry are well known to be the only Cowboy head coaches to win multiple championships, they also are the only ones to win a playoff game with multiple quarterbacks. Landry had three different quarterbacks (Craig Morton, Roger Staubach, and Danny White) while Johnson had two (Steve Beuerlein and Troy Aikman).
