Jerry Jones Passes on Johnny Manziel to Avoid Dallas Cowboys Explosion?
This will begin a series of posts by me and Ryan Bush examining the curious reasoning of Owner and General Manager Jerry Jones in passing on Johnny Manziel with the Cowboys 16th pick of the NFL Daft Thursday evening.
His reasoning is detailed in this article by Rowan Kavner of DallasCowboys.com
So, why does an NFL General Manager pass on what he admits to be “ probably the highest player on the board”?
The most glaring reason stated by Jones was the “explosion” that would occur if Manziel were thrust into competition with Tony Romo for the job of starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. In other words, drafting Manziel would ignite a fiery quarterback controversy that Jones didn’t want!
This speaks volumes about the General Manager as well as the current quarterback for the Cowboys!
