Understanding the Dallas Cowboys & The Gospel of Jerry!
After 25 years of owning the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones finally revealed his standard of success for America’s Team; the highest possible ratings. Though never one to consider myself the ultimate example of stubbornness, I must confess that 25 years of futility in understanding Jerry Jones reveals a personal resistance to truth that has been especially difficult to admit. But admit it I do!
The evidence is overwhelming. From his first official act of firing Tom Landry, Jerry Jones has been sure to keep himself and the Cowboys at the forefront of public attention. This has remained consistent, even through the first decade of the new millennium, their worst in franchise history.
Even now, after having settled into a mode of mediocrity, Jerry’s Cowboys have even managed to make themselves the focal point of the draft and the one player suited to Jerry’s style, Johnny Manziel.
I can’t believe it took me this long to finally understand this gospel of Jerry! In no way do I have faith in this good news of Jerry and his Way, but at least I have come to understand it!
