Andrés Armenta is a 2028 OF/RHP/2B with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Queen Creek, AZ who attends Casteel. Lean, live bodied frame with long levers and plenty of physical projection remaining. Recorded a 6.90 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary outfielder with a fundamentally sound defensive skill set. Fields properly off his front foot, maintains some momentum into release and delivered accurate throws up to 77 mph during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from a full windup delivery with bigger side-step and slightly coiled leg lift. Incorporates drop-and-drive lower half mechanics and shorter stride out to foot strike. Fastball worked in the mid-to-upper 70s for the duration of his outing with life through the zone and topped out at 78 mph from a lower three-quarters arm slot. Two-plane slider is tunneled well and flashes swing-and-miss capabilities. Worked both sides of the plate effectively and will continue to improve with additional velocity. Right-handed hitter that hits from a wider, slightly open base with a high hand set, high back elbow and subtle leg lift trigger. Loose, leveraged stroke with barrel whip through the zone and the ability to backspin the baseball with tons of carry. Exhibits plenty of present bat speed and some present power to the pullside, will continue to enhance enticing hit/power combination as he adds strength. Exciting, multi-talented project with sky high upside and plenty of projection remaining. Named to the 2024 13U Perfect Game Select Baseball Festival.
